This blog is different for the simple reason that I research everything I write. This isn't arm waving. On my blog, a fact is not a fact without a reference to back it up and I cite my references. For example, when I say the oldest reported tornado in North America was in colonial Massachusetts, I give a citation you can check for yourself. Not every citation is formatted to MLA or Chicago-style standards, but I always give my readers enough information that they can trace my sources; however, some of my posts indeed come equipped with citations that could stand peer-review scrutiny by other scholars. My research depth is the same that I would give a academic journal article, even when writing for a general audience. Just because someone doesn't have a pile a degrees is no reason to dumb-down the level of research behind what I write.
